From January 2021, we will be launching the Duke of Edinburgh Certificate of Achievement for all Year 9 pupils at Mercia School. The Duke of Edinburgh Certificate of Achievement is an exciting opportunity for pupils to be recognised for the skills and values they develop here at Mercia School.

All pupils in Year 9 will pursue the Certificate of Achievement which commends them for their commitment to developing a skill, a physical element and volunteering within the community over a 6-month period. The vast majority of pupils will then upgrade their Certificate of Achievement to the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award by also undertaking an outdoor expedition trip at the end of the summer term. Successful cohorts have completed Bronze, Silver and Gold Award since 2021. All pupils at least achieve the Certificate of Achievement in Year 9, with huge numbers achieving at least the Bronze Award in Year 9.
